I grew up in Webster, a town outside of Rochester,
New York. I remember drawing at an early age,
particularly a stapled-together comic book called
"The Adventures of Supermouse." When I was in
the fourth grade, I drew a series of wild, "Mad"
magazine inspired works on the back of my math
assignments. (Wish I had kept those...) I studied
fine art at Monroe Community College of Rochester.
After traveling around awhile, I ended up in
Olympia, Washington, where I've lived for the past
14 years.
This website more or less represents what I've been
working on for the last 3 or 4 years. My influences
have ranged from comics (Edward Gorey, Herge)
to painters and illustrators (William Blake, The
Pre-Raphaelites and Symbolists.) It all seems to
have gelled into something, although sometimes
I don't know quite how to describe it. A friend
of mine thought my stuff was like "a cross between
Charles Schulz and David Lynch." That seems as
good an explanation as any. Maybe "Kind and
friendly characters in weird, dreamlike pictures"
is another way I'd put it.
If you like my drawings, I'd be glad to send you a
copy, just specify which one. I'll send the first one
free, and additional copies at $1.00 each. $4.50
will get you a 24 page comic of assorted art. I'm
also open to trading, email me and we can work
something out.
Thanks for looking at my site, tell your friends!
I'll update things periodically, so come on back...
Some family history...
